The most enjoyable part of that day was shot put because it was kind of a challenge because I like challenges.

I'm proud of trying my best at everything I did because I have been training a bit harder this year.

Shot put, it was challenging because you had to push not throw.

Book Buddies

Description: We have been doing book buddies for a while now but it's been a long, fun journey! I'm still buddies with Bella which is good because we work well together and we like to read similar categories of books which is easier to chose a book. Book buddies is a activator we're you have a buddy, you read and talk about the book and do fun activities about the book.

I’m one of the executives so we haven't really been filling out our slide but if we were making a product we would have pictures of our posters and things we have been working on. Description: In writing, My goal is to Hook the audience with a dramatic opening sentence. I think I have hooked some people into my advertisement about a sock called Sookie! We have been learning persuasive writing. Here's my writing and poster. What do you think?

Description: in maths we have been focusing on graphs. I worked with Maria to find out some information about brainfood. We chose brainfood because it's something we have everyday and it helps you think. We have made a survey. Here it is. 



Feedback/Feedfoward: I thought we worked well together and an adequate amount of people came, maybe next time we could make a survey on popular activities etc

Evaluation: I found our graph easy to read. The survey was easy to do because people was listing clearly and no one rubbed out the answers that people had put (like yesterday).

Risk takers

Description: In the last 2 weeks some year 6s (Round 20 of us) have been working with the Poutama teachers and some teachers from Ashhurst school. We have been talking about risks. We had some things to order hardest to easiest. We came up with an action plan and we did it… now today we are teachers. We did the same thing but we tout the other kids in Poutama.

Olympic Pop Art

Description: This term we did some fun pop art. We did an individual piece and one for buddy. This is my individual one. This was the time when the olympics was going on. We had to chose a sport and draw the symbol. I chose BMX biking because I love going off road and biking. We chose our colours and made a plan in one of our books. (I did my think book) After a bit we did a template then traced round on in on this card. Then we painted. This took me 2 days. The class got a bit more longer because I had other stuff to do. (Art mural, Ross Open day)

Description: Week 7 & 8 we have been working on this Whakatauki. I did a lovely drawing and I've finished in 1 day. My big foucas that I don't usually do in drawings was shading. That was a big jump because that was probably my 2nd time doing shading in a drawing. Hope you guys like it!

Thursday Art With Suzanne

Description: CALENDAR ART!!! YAY! Every Thursday we have been doing art with Suzanne. We have been doing art for 7-8 weeks and I'm finished! We were inspired my Eric Carl. The drunken path patterns. First we made about 4 pages of little art. We had to either paint or draw patterns. I painted because it would be much quicker and I don't usually paint but I did a bit of drawing too. Lots of A's. One of the boring parts were drawing and cutting. We had to trace a stencil and cut it out. It was little squares with quarter circles. After that... THE FUN PART! Designing your art and trying out different things. This is my finished result. I love it! And I'm really happy I finished it in the time I was given. 7days. 
Feedback/Feedfoward: I really liked how it's quite dark and colourful in the dark colour range. Next maybe you could make it a little lighter coloured?

Description: This term, we are focusing on Whakatauki's. Whakatauki's are inspiring quotes. Our first Whakatauki was... He aha Te mea nui o Te au? He Tangata He Tangata He Tangata. The English translation of that would be... What is the most important thing in the world? The people the people the people. We decided to make a person, it didn't have to be our self. Mine... Was kind of me, Minecraft me!

Evaluation: I think I've done good from the time I was given, but I think if I had more time I could have done better and added more detail.

Writing Term 3

Description: This term we have been busy! Writing! Poutama is split into 3 groups. For writing off corse!
Sometimes we do quick writes. We have been working on this big piece of writing for this term. Nic showed us a picture of this movie called Avatar. It was a creapy jungle. It was kind of over grown like no one has been there in 500000 years or something! I love this YouTuber called Aphmau. She does lots of fun roll plays and series. People also write fanfics! So, I decided to write this story about her. Some of it is true. Like... Zane likeing ponys, Aphmau being Lady Irean, Aphmau going to the Irean dimension and things like that. This book is called.... The Dark Dream. Aphmau FF. (FF stands for FanFic) Now... I wonder why it's called that ;) Heres my story! Enjoy! (Also there's a slide with lots of planing and other things)


Evaluation: I think I've improved my writing and my planing. Organizing our ideas is quite important! Like... You need to know a story line and whats the problem other wise you can't write a book! The thing that was challenging but made me feel happy was...One day, I was sick so i didn't get ANY writing or planing done :( The next day i came to school feeling better, but i had to catch up. I didn't know what to do but Harriet helped me! I didn't really understand the planing bit so she explained it clearly to me. Thanks Harriet!

Book Buddies

Description: At the start of the term we started something new called Book Buddies. It's practically a book club but instead of lots of people, it would just be 2. My buddy is Bella and our coach is Elly. Our first book was the Jungle Book. Now we have finished that and reading The Giraffe and the Pelly and me. If we are not reading or catching up with our coach, we have these cards full of tasks to complete. I don't regularly get the cards done because I'll be reading, making a video about what we have read or I'll be at ukelele. Bella doesn't do ukelele so I kind of got to catch up but I don't mind. This is our slide about what we are reading and the stuff we do at literacy.

Evaluation: I like the books we are reading and I think book buddies was a very good idea. So... If your buddy says... "What was your favorite part of this chapter?" Or " what happened here" you can respond and talk about your understandings in the book to make sure you actually read it.


Description: This term we have been focusing on measurement. The teachers made a sheet to glue into our maths book. It had loads of tasks. When we did maths we would be doing one of the tasks or completing one that you started. At the start of the term we did a huge maths problem then after that we did some workshops and started the other tasks. Then a few weeks later we did the same problem. This slide shows how we improved and what level we are on the rubric.


Evaluation: I think I might need some work shops on weight so if I o this agin I can work out the other question then compare.

Evaluation: The reason and the thing I'd like to get better at first, would be to think before I act because feelings can drive you crazy! Seriously! Most likely if your "too" busy. Sometimes your too stressed to think about things then you sometimes end up regretting what you did because you can't think. So maybe for me i might need sometime to relax and really think before its too late.

Discovery Time Week 2

Description: Today was discovery time again! Yay! I started out with sketching. I copyied a photo from the past. It was Skippy and me. She's such a good cat! Anyway... Next I had CatchMeIfYouCan which is not part of Discovery Time. It's sports. I experimented with some wool and ended up making a little super hero cape for Emma. I think next time I would do some smashing or something with the technology that's broken. (That's an activity)

Discovery Time Week 1

Description: Welcome back to school! Term 3 is here! Gosh, the year is going so fast! For term 3 the teachers decided to get discovery time back. I did loads of things! Here's a list: Friendship bracelets, sports, sketching, tested some speakers to see if they work. My fav was Friendship bracelets. I helped Emma to get started. I made two. 

Evaluation: I love creating thing. I think maybe next time I could try make a different friendship bracelet in a different way. If I get really good I could time myself!

Cloud writing


Description: A few days ago I did my student led conference. A student led conference (STLC22016) when you share your learning on your blog. SLCT22026 stands for Student Lec Confrence Term 2 2016.  Here is my little reflection about it.

1) How do you think you did on your SLC? What was the highlight?

I exclained it more than I did on my blog post. My highlight was my report card. I'm super proud of myself because I got above stranded for all of them. 

2) What did you do differently to make your SLC stand out?

I exclained it a bit different from my blog but in different words.

3) How will you make your Home Led Conference in Term 3 be awesome? What things might you do to make it awesome?

Since its at home I might make pancakes for after noon tea and sit down with my parents and do my SLCT32016.

Writing (Sea Turtle)

Description: For a few weeks now we have been working on our sea turtle writing. First we had to plan. We did a lot of planing in our work shops. We took notes and watched a video to get our inspiration. Hope you enjoy my work.

Sea turtles have been round since 150,000,000 years ago. When the dinosaurs were here. The mother lays 1,000 eggs and buries them on the beach. She abandons her eggs. Only %20 hatches which is 800 eggs.

They try make it to the water but they face predators. Known as…,Crabs, Seagulls, birds, ect;
Only 400 make it into the water. The other 400 get eaten or killed by the DEADLY predators.

In storms or rainy/windy days there would be currents. Baby's aren't that strong so what will happen to the baby sea turtles? Sadly, only 200 survive the currents.

Sharks, whales and other things like to kill and do some not nice things… Only 20 survive.

That's NOT ALL YET! There's more to come! You will be surprised how evil humans can be! Only 2 survive with human interference. Only 2 SURVIVE!!!! Dun, dun ,dunnnnnnn!!!!!!!

Art Mural

Description: On some days I do art mural with a small group and with the BEST art teacher... Caroyln. So far we had (Last week) Monday, Thursday, Friday. (This week) Monday, Thursday, Friday. IM SUPER EXCITED!!!! Caroyln said that we had all day Thursday and Friday morning till lunch (1:00) We have 8 days to get our mural done! It's kind of hard because some people are sick and not comeing to school at when its time to paint.... It's verry hard. Especially for some people because there part of the mural is connecting to someone eases part of the mural.

Te Reo

Description: A few weeks ago we started on a game. I worked with Maria and we had to make a game to teach others about food in Moari. We decided to make some flash cards. First we drawer a picture of each thing that we thought that would be used at meals. Then we had to find the Moari words and write it down on a pice of paper.
People can see it for about 10 seconds then we muddle the words up.

Then they try match the words to the photo.

Evaluation: I think next time I could make some more cards if I wanted it to be a long game.

Hard window Maths.

Description: On Tuesday and today (Thursday) we did some maths. Elly gave us a problem to solve. That's the problem. 

First we had to write down the area and the primarie of each window. The pic that's says... WRONG! Is wrong. I didn't really know what to do but then I read the question again and realised it was wrong. So I started again and I think I got it right. We had to figur out a formulae.

Rich task

Description: I worked with Maria for this rich task. We got emailed a poster with lots of questions and we had to solve it in our books. We used some cube blocks to help work it out.

Evaluation: Maria was a great driver for me. We worked well together and I think we could solve harder questions working as a mini group.

Maths test

Description: Last week we did a test. I did a stage six test and I'm "happy" with the results but I knew I could do a bit better. I got 52%. At least its better than 50%. I was a bit slow to start of with so maybe a could practice my speed.

Description: Today I'm going to talk about the "seed" part in Seed2Table. In Seed2Table we have 4 groups. Elly takes 2 for science and the parents take 2 groups for cooking. (of course we swap!) We had to plant some plants and we had to have 1 thing that was different. Emma and I worked together and we chose to keep the same amount of liquid different. Fizzy, water, tea etc;  Emma and I noticed there was no sprouts or anything coming out of our plant. It kind of felt like I was watering dirt. I wonder if chives takes longer to grow or that the seeds were at the bottom of the cup. Maybe it was sprouting but just in the dirt. I might have to dig the plant up and have a look.

Feedback/Feedforward: I love how you are telling us how it felt because some people don't know its just a nice thing for people to read. Next time you could tell us how you came up to this point and what you changed and kept the same. :P -Charlotte P

Evaluation: I think next time I should be with Emma when she planted the plant to make shore it wasn't at the bottom of the pot. Otherwise maybe we could try different seeds.

Description: I've done lots of things this morning and I've got more to do. So far I've done.... Spelling, handwriting and science. I've got to do reading and writing until I can do some extensions.

Lego Maths Portfolio Piece

Description: Yesterday and today Emma and I have been working on this one thing. This one hard question. We used some material to help us and we got some help from Elly. 
 I got these fraction materials out. I got 2 1/4s, 3 1/10s and 1 1/5. I also got 1 whole and put them together. I cut it in half. So.... 1/4 + 1/4= 1/2. Now I have to work out the 1/10s. You've got to skip count or times to 150 because that's what were working towards. Then what is left you put onto the 1/5. That's how I worked it out.

Feedback/Feedfoward: i think you did do good working out the problem and you could make your description a bit longer. Harrier

Evaluation: I think i did well trying to solve the problem but maybe next time i cold try not to get help and try different strategies.

Japanese with Kelly

Description: Every Thursday afternoon after lunch, the year 6s do Japanese. Kelly comes in and teaches us lots of things. Here's my slides that you can look at.
We had to copy a whew slides of Kelly's real slide. On the slide we post things that we've done at home. We post home work and then Kelly can See what we've done at home. Ive done some homework in the past and on this slide YOU can check it out!

Evaluation: Learning a language is kind of hard. You have to fit all this big info in to your tiny brain. We are now learning how to write in Japanese. We have only started on the numbers to ten. It's "hard" and easy... And kinda confusing for me.

Maths week 3 16/5/16

Description: today I had a ELLY A workshop. I'm super proud of myself and Emma. Emma and I worked together and worked something out and got it right! The first time we didn't but the second time was harder and we got it! If you do the littlest fraction first it's more than likely that your going to get it right.
This is the first one we got wrong. The 1/4 are souposted to be 40g and the 1/10 is souposted to be 20g. 

Evaluation: now I know to work out the little fraction first.

Reading 1 workshop skimming

Skimming is when you try find the main idea or a answer in a bit of text. A stone can skim on water and keeps going until it's finished. We can skim by reading some of the text but not all of it.

Maths week 2 term 2 12/5/16

Description: today I did some book work with the NZCM6 book. I had to go to E learning buddies so I didn't get that much work done. When I came back I played a little fractions game.

Evaluation: I think I should do something a bit harder or work up to it. I should sit with nobody unless there drivers and help me other wise I can't get as much stuff done.

Seed to table week 1

Description: On Fridays we do seed to table. I think we have like 4or5 weeks of this program that starts at the start of the year. Seed to table is when you bake and do some gardening. At the end around 1 o'clock, it would be lunch time. We eat what we have made and just have a fun time.

Evaluation: next time a deal with dogh I wont touch it too much other wise it gets really sticky. Other wise I had loads of fun and im really looking forward to next week.

Maths week 2 term 2 9/5/16

Description: today I did something different. I still did fractions but I did some book work. I also had a work shop. In my workshop I we had a question. I worked with miko and Maria. We thought she had $10 left. Do you think that was right?!

Evaluation: So you ever have that feeling that you think that somethings wrong? I do. I might have too cheek my questions again.
